Job Description

Join this NGO who does wonders for the community as a Bookkeeper on a 4 month contract in Johannesburg North.

Responsibilities

  • 1st releasing payments daily and 30-day supplier payments with General Manager
  • Processing intern salary payments, Providing information and answering interns questions about payroll-related matters and resolving intern payroll errors
  • Perform 3rd party verification of bank account details for all new suppliers
  • Ensure adequate supporting documentation is in place before uploading invoices into finance system
  • Ensure correct project allocations are provided when loading invoices into Hubdocs
  • Invoice donors/funders on and adhoc and monthly basis
  • Perform monthly creditors and debtors reconciliations
  • Following up regularly on any outstanding debt and creditor payments and/or discrepancies
  • Report monthly on summarised accounts payable and receivables
  • Liaising with accounting company (that processes bank account entries, do bank reconciliation, do payroll allocation and control, VAT, ETI entries)
  • Review all debit order transactions, e.g. internet, cellphone & insurance, to ensure they are valid and accurate
  • Provide a monthly breakdown of debit order invoices for processing
  • Reconcile eWallet expenditure and follow up on outstanding items

Requirements:

  • Impeccable time-management skills
  • Capability to stay organized and maintain detailed records
  • Basic arithmetic competency
  • Proven work experience as an Accounts Administrator or similar role
  • Good knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and debt collection regulations
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (using financial formulas and creating spreadsheets)
  • Solid data entry skills with an ability to identify numerical errors
  • Good organizational and time-management abilities
  • Strong bookkeeping skills
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving techniques
