Job Description

A brand-new and very exciting opportunity is open for a highly experienced Financial Analyst/Cost Accountant. This is a project-based temporary six-month contract. In this role, you will play a key part in optimising my client's cost structure by increasing the variable cost base and reducing the fixed components of the company’s Cost of Doing Business (CoDB). Your expertise will help enhance operational flexibility and improve the business's ability to adapt to market changes. Responsibilities:

  • Analyse the current fixed and variable costs of the business
  • Identify key fixed costs that can be shifted to a variable model
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to understand cost drivers
  • Assess potential risks of transitioning to a more variable cost structure
  • Develop and assist with the implementation of cost allocation methods
  • Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes and systems
  • Set up KPIs to track the effectiveness of cost optimisation efforts
  • Monitor financial performance ensuring intended cost savings
  • Present findings and progress reports on cost optimisation efforts to executive management
  • Provide training and support to other team members on cost accounting principles and best practices

Requirements:

  • Qualified CA(SA) / CIMA
  • At least 10+ years of experience in a similar position
  • Project Management experience
  • Strong financial acumen and excellent understanding of cost structures and analysis within retail, supply chain, IT and support centre costs
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting
  • Tax knowledge of accounting implications would be advantageous
  • Understanding of VAS, Money transfers, Bill payments and Insurance as revenue streams would be advantageous
  • Proficiency in financial software, MS Office, MS Excel and ERP systems
