Are you a seasoned finance professional available immediately and ready to hit the ground running? We're looking for an Interim Finance Manager to steer the financial operations of a respected educational publisher during a key transitional period.
Who is the client?
They are a South African arm of a global education brand, blending international reach with local expertise.
This interim role will see you lead a small but skilled finance team, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and compliance with local and international standards. You’ll be the go-to person for senior leadership on financial insights, risk management, and audit readiness.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver timely and accurate monthly financial reporting to local and UK teams
- Oversee financial controls, GL reconciliations, and tax compliance (incl. payroll, VAT, and income tax)
- Manage audit preparations and liaise with external auditors
- Ensure alignment with IFRS for SMEs and internal governance policies
- Maintain strong credit and cash flow oversight, managing risk and ensuring continuity
- Support team development and oversee daily accounting operations
What we’re looking for
- A minimum 3-year financial degree with a postgrad qualification
- 5+ years’ experience in a senior finance role, preferably within publishing, education, or international environments
- Excellent command of IFRS for SMEs and South African compliance standards
- Hands-on experience with audits, reconciliations, and month-end processes
- Confident, proactive, and ready to work independently from day one
- A people-first leader who enjoys supporting and coaching teams
