Job Description

We are recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a fast-growing international financial services business looking to appoint an experienced Senior Credit Risk Manager to join their Cape Town team on a contract basis.
This is a hands-on senior credit role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is comfortable taking ownership from day one. You will play an integral role across the full credit assessment process, while also helping to strengthen the business's credit and risk capabilities across its international operations, including Saudi Arabia.

The environment is dynamic and demanding, so we are looking for someone resilient, commercially minded and solutions-focused who can confidently manage competing priorities and tight turnaround times.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis

  • Analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements
  • Evaluate financial ratios, trends and performance to assess borrowers' financial health and creditworthiness
  • Take significant responsibility for developing and strengthening risk capabilities for the Saudi Arabian market

Credit Assessment & Risk

  • Lead and support credit risk assessments for potential and existing clients
  • Review credit applications and supporting documentation to determine creditworthiness
  • Assist in determining appropriate credit limits, structures and terms
  • Work closely with technical, data and risk teams to continuously improve credit capabilities and processes
  • Apply sound commercial judgement when assessing complex or higher-risk credit applications

Reporting & Investment Committee

  • Prepare detailed credit analysis and recommendations for management
  • Present customer credit assessments and recommendations to the Investment Committee (IC) for approval
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date credit records and supporting documentation
  • Support regular portfolio reporting and credit reviews

Portfolio Monitoring

  • Monitor existing credit accounts and proactively identify emerging risks
  • Lead and support regular credit reviews and portfolio analysis
  • Conduct market and industry research to support credit decisions and identify potential risk factors

Stakeholder Management & Leadership

  • Work closely with senior risk leadership and other internal teams to ensure accurate and timely credit assessments
  • Engage directly with clients to obtain financial information, resolve queries and clarify supporting information
  • Provide guidance and support to more junior members of the credit team and contribute to their development

What We Are Looking For:

  • Relevant degree, ideally in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Investment Management or a related discipline
  • Postgraduate qualification would be advantageous
  • Approximately 5+ years' relevant credit / credit risk experience, ideally within lending, banking, fintech, investment or another fast-paced financial services environment
  • Strong financial statement analysis and credit assessment skills.
  • Experience preparing detailed credit papers and presenting recommendations to a credit or investment committee would be highly advantageous
  • Strong commercial judgement and ability to make well-reasoned credit decisions
  • Previous experience mentoring or developing junior team members
  • Comfortable operating in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment
  • Highly resilient, proactive and solutions-focused
  • Able to work independently and hit the ground running with limited supervision
  • Comfortable working across international markets and time zones when required

The Opportunity:

  • This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced credit professional looking to join a high-growth, internationally focused business where you can have a tangible impact on both day-to-day credit decisions and the continued development of the organisation's risk capabilities.
  • If you have strong credit fundamentals, enjoy working at pace and are looking for an opportunity where you can make an immediate impact, we would love to hear from you

If you have not heard from us within two weeks of submitting your application, please consider your application unsuccessful. We will retain your details for consideration for future suitable opportunities.
