What you will be doing:
Leadership & Team Management
- Coordinate, guide, and develop the finance team
- Monitor outputs, conduct reviews, manage performance, and facilitate training
- Drive effective communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
Month-End Processes
- Ensure adherence to month-end timelines and checklists
- Review journals, provisions, GL balances, and financial statements
- Prepare and distribute management accounts by day seven
Banking & Cash Flow
- Oversee daily processing and reconciliation of bank accounts and cash books
- Monitor petty cash, credit card reconciliations, and filing
- Manage cash flow planning and liaise with banks
Debtors & Creditors Management
- Administer debtor approvals and review age analyses
- Monitor credit control processes and overdue interest
- Oversee supplier account setup, reconciliations, payments, and discounts
Statutory Compliance (SARS & CIPC)
- Submit VAT201, EMP201, and annual returns on time
- Ensure compliance with legislation and support tax planning
Fixed Assets
- Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register
- Oversee depreciation, asset verification, warranties, and licensing
Audits
- Prepare for and manage annual audits
- Coordinate audit documentation and address queries
- Conduct audit post-mortems and implement improvements
Payroll & HR Support
- Oversee payroll processing and related administration
- Process payroll journals and statutory submissions
- Support WSP and Workmen’s Compensation requirements
Reporting & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate financial records and archives
- Review tills, reconciliations, and stock-related monitoring
- Ensure timely communication and escalation of key matters
General Finance Duties
- Develop and implement finance policies
- Drive cost savings and reduce financial losses
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, and management reports
- Support other departments and complete ad hoc tasks

What we are looking for:
- Proven experience as an Accountant in a similar role
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- Excellent understanding of financial processes, controls, and legislation
- Proficiency in month-end reporting, reconciliations, and audits
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency
