Do you thrive on turning the numbers into decisions before the rest of the business has even had its morning coffee? We're a fast-growing, multi-site retail group looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to own the finance function end to end, from daily cash to the annual audit.

This is not a back-office reporting role. You will sit close to trading, buying and planning, linking stock, margin and cash to the numbers that drive real decisions. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will have genuine ownership of the finance function in a business that moves fast and expects finance to keep pace.

What you will be doing:

• Own daily cash, bank reconciliations and trading reporting
• Review store cash-ups and investigate variances and under-bankings
• Manage supplier and other payments, and banking facilities
• Run the full accounting records in Xero, including reconciliations
• Maintain a sound internal control environment across sites
• Lead the month-end process through to management accounts
• Manage the fixed asset register, depreciation and capex tracking
• Prepare budget and forecast variance commentary
• Partner with planners and buyers on margin, markdown and sell-through
• Oversee inventory control, stock takes and shrinkage investigation
• Process monthly payroll, commissions and related HR administration
• Prepare EMP201, VAT and EMP501 submissions
• Prepare annual budgets, rolling forecasts and cash flow forecasts
• Lead the annual audit pack through to signed financial statements
• Supervise and develop the finance team

What we are looking for:

Essential

• BCom in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, including 2+ years in a Finance Manager or similar full-function role
• Proven ownership of a full month-end cycle through to management accounts and audit
• Strong working knowledge of Xero or similar cloud accounting software
• Advanced Excel, including modelling, pivot tables and large data sets
• Hands-on payroll experience and sound knowledge of VAT, PAYE and SARS e-Filing
• South African citizenship or valid right to work in South Africa
• Clear criminal and credit record

Preferable

• Retail experience
• Exposure to inventory management, point-of-sale or retail planning systems
• Experience with imports, foreign currency and landed cost calculations
