Job Description

My client, based in Durbanville, is looking for an analytical and commercially minded Cost Accountant to join its finance team. Operating in a fast-paced production environment, the business offers the opportunity to get close to operations and influence how performance, profitability and investment decisions are made.

Purpose of the role

You’ll bridge the gap between finance and operations, developing accurate costing models, analysing performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and profitability. You’ll liaise with the various department heads to ensure budgets stay on track.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and continuously improve product and service costing models.
• Analyse operational performance, cost drivers, profitability and variances.
• Establish meaningful KPIs across production, maintenance, logistics and asset utilisation.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial analysis.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and support operational efficiency initiatives.

• Assist with financial modelling, investment assessments, tax compliance and audit requirements.

What we’re looking for

• BComm Management Accounting, BTech C&MA or CIMA Current
• 3–5+ years’ experience within manufacturing, production, engineering, mining or a similar industrial environment.
• Post-qualification experience in a Cost Accountant or Management Accountant role.
• Strong knowledge of product costing, cost analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
• A proactive, investigative mindset with strong commercial acumen and the confidence to challenge existing processes.
• Afrikaans and own transport is important

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP/accounting systems.
