Job Description

Join a well-established logistics company operating in the global movement of products. We’re on the lookout for a Senior Accountant to take full control of the finance function, someone who is deadline-driven, technically strong, and confident in managing both day-to-day processing and high-level financial reporting.

This is a hands-on role reporting directly to the Managing Director, offering exposure to international operations, compliance, and strategic finance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Prepare and present financial packs and ratio analyses at quarterly meetings
  • Run full payroll function for six employees using Pastel Payroll
  • Perform reconciliations across multiple bank accounts (ZAR, USD, GBP, EUR, and call accounts)
  • Manage VAT201, EMP201, EMP501, Provisional Tax, Workman’s Compensation, DOL returns, EE, SLD, CIPC, and B-BBEE compliance
  • Prepare and support for annual audits and exchange control audits for SARB
  • Maintain Sage 50 records, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and clearing accounts
  • Liaise with overseas suppliers and customers for US$ offset agreements and collections
  • Run weekly cashflow forecasting and reporting across multiple currencies
  • Review and support API/EDI uploads from shipping systems to Sage 50
  • Oversee accurate general ledger coding and financial controls
  • Assist in the preparation of over-recovery sheets to determine profitability on files

What You’ll Bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (BCom Accounting or similar)
  • Strong experience using Pastel Payroll and Sage 50
  • Knowledge of API and/or EDI data integration to Sage 50
  • Deep understanding of statutory compliance and audit preparation
  • Excellent Excel and financial systems proficiency
  • Experience in logistics or international trading (advantageous)

Your Strengths:

  • Highly accountable and able to meet tight deadlines independently
  • Analytical thinker with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong communicator, comfortable dealing with both local and international stakeholders
  • Flexible and adaptable – thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Committed to integrity and confidentiality in all financial dealings
  • Proactive with a problem-solving mindset

Why You Should Apply:

If you’re ready to take ownership of a critical function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, this role offers you the platform to lead, influence, and grow. You’ll be working alongside like-minded professionals with the autonomy to shape the credit function and drive performance.
