Job Description

Ready to be the right-hand finance partner in a fast-moving, project-driven business with operations across Africa?

This is a great opportunity for a CA(SA), 2–3 years post-articles, to step into a second-in-command finance role within a project-based engineering and operations environment. You'll work closely with the CFO, get real exposure to multi-entity, multi-currency operations across the continent, and build structure in areas where formal finance processes are still taking shape. This is a hands-on, agile environment rather than a big-corporate setup — ideal for someone who wants to make an impact and grow quickly into a senior finance leadership role.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting the CFO on financial strategy, governance, and compliance, and stepping in as deputy in their absence.
  • Owning the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, reporting both regionally and to Group.
  • Overseeing project accounting — revenue recognition, cost tracking, margin analysis, and variance reporting — in partnership with project managers and project accountants.
  • Driving cash flow planning, working capital management, and improvements to billing cycles and unbilled revenue.
  • Managing and mentoring a small finance team, including project accountants, while building regional finance capability.
  • Strengthening financial governance, risk management, and internal controls across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Improving financial systems, reporting tools, and project accounting processes.
  • Acting as a finance business partner to project managers, operations managers, and country managers.

What we're looking for

  • CA(SA), with 2-3 years' post-articles experience in a commercial environment.
  • Experience in project-based industries is preferred, though we're open to strong candidates from a range of backgrounds, especially more complex environments.
  • Exposure to multi-entity, multi-currency environments across Africa is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with transfer pricing, intercompany structuring, or cross-border treasury is a bonus, not a requirement.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with the confidence to manage finance functions remotely and through external advisors where needed.

What's in it for you

  • A genuine 2IC role with real exposure to the CFO and senior leadership.
  • The chance to build and shape finance structures across a multi-country African footprint.
  • Hands-on project accounting experience in a commercially interesting, project-driven business.
  • A smaller, agile environment where you can move quickly and make a visible impact — not a “cog in the corporate machine” role.

Apply now and bring your project accounting and finance leadership skills into a role where you can genuinely grow.
