Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for a technically strong Financial Accountant to join a growing international professional services business on a fixed-term contract. Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll play a key role in preparing the business for external audit while supporting a major finance transformation project.
This is not a traditional financial accounting role. You'll join at a pivotal stage as the business prepares for significant growth, helping professionalise the finance function, strengthen financial controls and support an international group through a busy audit and transformation period.
If you're someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, thrives in a hands-on environment and isn't afraid to build processes from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.
What you will be doing:
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading preparation for external audits, including audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Preparing statutory financial statements and disclosure packs
- Rebuilding and strengthening balance sheet reconciliations to audit standard
- Supporting month-end reporting, journals, accruals and management accounts
- Assisting with group consolidations across multiple international entities
- Supporting tax packs, statutory compliance and wider finance reporting requirements
- Working closely with the CFO to improve financial controls, accounting processes and governance
- Playing a key role in an ERP implementation, including reconciliation, testing and data migration
- Mentoring junior finance team members where required
What we are looking for:
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting skills with a practical, hands-on approach
Ideally you will have:
- CA(SA) qualification (preferred), although highly experienced finance professionals will also be considered
- Strong external audit and financial reporting experience
- Proven experience preparing annual financial statements and managing audit processes
- Excellent reconciliation and balance sheet management skills
- Experience working within multi-entity and multi-currency environments
- Exposure to ERP implementations or finance system migrations would be advantageous
- Experience within a professional services environment (consulting, legal, engineering or similar) with knowledge of WIP, revenue recognition and project accounting will be highly advantageous
- The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment while managing competing priorities
The ideal person:
Will be someone who:
- Enjoys solving complex accounting challenges
- Is happy rolling up your sleeves and getting into the detail
- Works well with ambiguity and changing priorities
- Has excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Can build relationships with stakeholders across the business
- Enjoys improving processes and leaving things better than you found them
What's on offer:
- 6–9 month fixed-term contract with potential for extension
- Fully remote role based in South Africa
- Opportunity to work directly with an experienced CFO in a growing international business
- Exposure to private equity readiness, international consolidations, ERP implementation and external audit
