Job Description

Fancy a finance role where you're genuinely hands-on, not just signing off on other people's work?

This is an opportunity to join a close-knit, founder-run business in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs, where finance sits right at the centre of how the business runs day to day. It's a practical, all-rounder role in an environment that values getting things done as much as technical polish.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning the full accounting cycle across multiple related companies, from general ledger through to month and year-end.
  • Leading a small finance team and acting as a key point of contact for other departments.
  • Reviewing cashbooks, credit cards, and petty cash, and keeping financial controls tight.
  • Managing creditors and debtors, including payments, collections, and supplier relationships.
  • Handling monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts, and chasing down variances quickly.
  • Taking care of statutory and SARS submissions (VAT201, EMP201) via e-Filing.
  • Reviewing payroll for accuracy and compliance (processing itself is outsourced).
  • Preparing budgets, forecasts, and weekly cash flow, and tracking performance against plan.
  • Compiling board packs and management reports with clear, useful commentary.
  • Acting as the key liaison for the annual audit and a hands-on sounding board for senior management.

What we're looking for

  • A BCom or similar qualification, with SAICA or SAIPA articles, or equivalent solid commercial finance experience.
  • At least 5 years in a financial management role, ideally within a manufacturing or stock-heavy environment.
  • Comfortable rolling up your sleeves — this is a hands-on role in a hands-on business.
  • Strong people leadership and the confidence to manage a small team.
  • Solid grasp of accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
  • Experience with Syspro or Sage is a strong advantage.
  • High integrity, sound commercial judgement, and a genuine get-it-done attitude.

What's in it for you

  • A close-knit team environment where your work has visible, immediate impact.
  • Broad exposure across the full finance function, not just one narrow slice of it.
  • An easy commute if you're based in the Southern Suburbs.
  • Real autonomy and a seat close to the people making the decisions.
