Job Description

Looking for a finance role where your work means more than just balancing the books?

Here's an opportunity to put your finance skills to good use while contributing to an organisation that is making a meaningful difference in people's lives.

Our client, an established non-profit organisation based in Cape Town, is looking for a hands-on Finance Officer who enjoys getting involved, takes pride in accuracy and understands the importance of strong financial management in a purpose-driven environment.

This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same. You'll be involved in everything from financial reporting, reconciliations and budgeting to monitoring donor funding and supporting the organisation's day-to-day financial and administrative operations.

We're looking for someone who is organised, dependable and comfortable taking ownership of their work. Someone who understands that behind every report, reconciliation and budget is an organisation relying on accurate financial information to deliver on its mission.

What you'll be getting involved in

  • Managing day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities
  • Preparing financial reports, including donor and Department of Social Development reporting
  • Monitoring funding expenditure and ensuring funds are accounted for correctly
  • Assisting with budgets, financial planning and expenditure monitoring
  • Managing creditors, reconciliations and financial records
  • Supporting annual audits and maintaining sound financial controls
  • Assisting with asset management and practical office administration
  • Getting involved in additional administrative responsibilities, including leave records, insurance, vehicles and office equipment

What we're looking for

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of 3 years' relevant finance experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the NGO/NPO environment
  • Pastel Evolution experience is essential
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential
  • A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel
  • Strong attention to detail, good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines

Why consider this opportunity?

If you're looking for a finance position where you can make a meaningful contribution, enjoy variety in your working day and be part of an organisation focused on making a difference, this could be a great fit.

This role will suit someone who enjoys both the detail of finance and the practical side of keeping things running smoothly.
