Imagine working directly alongside a Group CFO, gaining exposure to multiple businesses and developing the skills to become a key player in Group Finance.

This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified CA(SA) looking for more than just their next accounting role.

Our client, an established and diverse Cape Town-based group, is creating a brand-new position within its Group Finance team. With interests across property development, construction, manufacturing, education and commercial operations, the business offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to different industries within one organisation.

You'll work closely with the Group CFO, who is looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, a great attitude and the potential to develop into a trusted right-hand person.

You don't need to know everything from day one. What matters is your willingness to learn, your attention to detail and your enthusiasm for building a career in commercial finance.

What will you be involved in?

Working closely with the Group CFO, you'll gradually take on responsibility across a variety of Group Finance functions, including:

• Monthly financial reporting and Group consolidations
• Budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
• Annual financial statements and statutory compliance
• Intercompany transactions and financial controls
• Audit coordination, governance and risk management
• Banking, treasury and financial administration
• Improving financial processes, systems and reporting
• Supporting the preparation of management and Board reporting

This is a varied role that will give you a valuable understanding of how finance operates across a diverse group of businesses.

What we're looking for

• Newly qualified CA(SA), or up to approximately one year of post-qualification experience
• Articles with commercial industry exposure rather than a financial services focus
• Exposure to property, construction, manufacturing or education would be advantageous
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and excellent attention to detail
• Excellent organisational and administrative skills
• Confident, articulate and comfortable communicating with people at all levels
• A positive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine interest in developing a commercial finance career

You'll need to be organised, approachable and confident enough to ask questions, contribute ideas and take ownership of your work.
