Our Fintech client is seeking a Reconciliations Specialist to be a critical member of the Financial Operations team, responsible for maintaining the integrity of loan portfolio data across all systems. In this role you will own the end-to-end reconciliation process, resolve exceptions, support escalated customer queries, and work cross-functionally with Technology and Data Science teams to drive accuracy, automation, and continuous improvement.

What you will be doing:

  • Execute daily end-to-end reconciliation of loan portfolios, ensuring all positions are balanced and signed off within agreed SLAs.
  • Perform detailed data validation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across multiple systems.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve reconciliation discrepancies in a timely manner, maintaining a clear exceptions log and escalation trail.
  • Manage the reconciliation of individual loan accounts, including repayments, interest calculations, and fee adjustments.
  • Act as subject matter expert for escalated customer queries relating to loan discrepancies, providing clear and accurate resolution.
  • Investigate and rectify complex or non-performing loan issues, including interest discrepancies, refunds, and manual adjustments.
  • Partner with the Technology team to resolve system discrepancies, automate manual reconciliation processes, and improve data feeds.
  • Collaborate with Data Science to identify patterns in data exceptions, enhance data quality, and validate model-driven adjustments.

What you will need:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in financial reconciliation within loan operations.
  • Background in fintech, microfinance, or consumer lending environments.
  • Demonstrated experience reconciling loan portfolios or financial accounts end-to-end.
  • Strong knowledge of loan structures: principal, interest accruals, fees, repayments, and adjustments.
  • Proficiency in Excel - including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data validation.
  • Strong communication skills in English with French or Swahili being advantageous.
  • Experience with SQL or data querying tools for extracting and validating large datasets.
